A Bit About Me
Hailing from Ballinger, Texas, Debra is a true Texan. While she’s lived in a few other states briefly, the Lone Star State is where her heart – and her family - are. She has two daughters, Courtney and Robbye, and one son, Cole, and her pride and joy are her seven grandchildren (Emma, Zac, Addison, Madelyn, Jaxson, Selby, and Hudson), who rule her heart.
Following in her mother’s footsteps, Debra graduated from nursing school in 1979. As a Licensed Vocational Nurse, Debra worked in Cardiopulmonary, Respiratory, Med Surg, and in small hospitals where she had to operate as a jack of all trades. She also learned the value of a warm smile, soft touch, and a kind word while working in long term care units where she cared for Alzheimer's and dementia patients.
After about 20 years, Debra went into agency (or traveling) nursing. During her time as an agency nurse, she worked in the med-surg, telemetry, and emergency departments. She retired in 2014, but still keeps her nursing muscles sharp by being the best Grandma and fielding all kinds of medical questions from her family.
Debra loves spending time with her family – especially her grandkids – and playing family games such as Phase 10, Spades, and Dominoes. When she’s not spoiling her grandchildren, she loves to read and crochet.
